You know how dark the Queen of Hearts was in Alice in Wonderland before Disney got their hands on it?
Homogenization is probably the best way to describe it.
Another interesting question this brings up is about copyright. Disney is notorious for the current state of copyright law, especially as it pertains to their famous "Vault" which would have entered public domain long ago had it not been for their strong lobby.
I hope they don't mess with Marvel.
