I like it when I find stuff that I haven't seen in a while by just rummaging around in my hard drive. It's a picture I messed around with in photoshop a couple summers back... Fun times.
In other news, I've been surfing around since fixing my computer and stumbled on some cool sites and blogs. here we go:
Sites
A day of air travel in the US
Basically, a time-lapse (24 hour) showing you a map of the US with tiny red dots showing the location of airplanes. Kind of mesmerizing, partially cause its on a loop.
MashMap
Here's a slick website that uses Google Maps and combines it with movie listing and theater locations. Punch in your zip code and then view listings by theater or movie. Another handy feature which isn't readily apparent is being able to establish a permalink (basically a link that you could set as home page, IM someone with, etc). For example, my current link for my hometown of Duarte.
Blogs
You Ain't No Picasso
Have listened to a couple of the tracks he has posted right now. Author shares my name so that's cool. All in all I've just gotten back online, so I may decide in the future its not so cool, but after being starved for new music for months (other than Indie 103.1 and Morning Becomes Eclectic), I needed a little something to quench my thirst for sonic goodness.
stereogum
A few people are posting comments that go along the lines of "wah wah, people heard about death cab from the oc. Let's all hate them for it." The good part? Others retaliated with the obvious conclusion that these people, no matter what their original motivation, have been exposed to this music. Sorry to break into the club guys, but, um, your band gave us the key. Once again, the caveat from above. So far so good.
Other blogs I check in on regularly (for tech news)
Scobleizer - Keeps me updated on Microsoft, the internet, and other intriguing ideas
Chris Pirillo - Once again, my own little peek into the technology jungle
Google Blog - Cause whenever they come up with another innovative idea, they post it here
Betanews - Keeps me updated on what's going on with the business end of technology
So I'm wondering if anyone knows of some good blog clients that are not bare bones, but not too terribly complex, although maybe those for later on :o)...
Leave me a comment.
